Prior to using the Year 2000 Upgrade, NVM-2000 systems prior to version 2.12 require version 2.12 Software Upgrade, P/N 17531. Contact Nitsuko Sales Support for availability of this upgrade.

If you have a Nitsuko Navigator Mail, contact Nitsuko Sales Support for Y2K upgrade information.
When you download the Year 2000 Upgrade information, you will copy the files onto 5 floppy disks. One of these must be a boot disk (which you create). It is extremely important that you maintain the original file structure as you copy the files. After you copy all files you will have created the following disks:
  1. Year 2000 Upgrade Files, Disk 1 of 2 - This is a boot disk. This disk is required for all NVM-2, 22, 202, 202ex, 2000 upgrades.
  2. Year 2000 Upgrade Files, Disk 2 of 2 - This is not a boot disk. You will use this disk only if you are using the COM port to perform the upgrade, and your system is an:
    NVM-202 with software version 1.06
    NVM-2000 with software version 2.12
    NVM-2003 with software version 2.12
  3. NVM-202 Only Backup Disk 001 - This is not a boot disk. You will use this disk only if you are using the floppy drive on an NVM and your system is an NVM-202 with software version 1.06.
  4. NVM-2000 & NVM-2003 Only Backup Disk 001 - This is not a boot disk. You will use this disk only if you are using the floppy drive on an NVM and your system is an NVM-2000 with software version 2.12 or an NVM-3000 with software version 2.12.
  5. IDEA System (Backup & Restore Tool) Version 1.03 - You will use this disk if you are performing the upgrades through NVM's COM port.

After downloading this information to disk, follow the NVM-Series Upgrade Instructions (available in Adobe Acrobat format) to upgrade your voice mail system for Year 2000 Compliance.

Create a Boot Disk

Create a boot disk before you copy the Year 2000 files.
To create a boot disk:
  1. From your computer, access your MS DOS prompt (e.g., C:\WINDOWS>).
  2. Install a floppy disk into the floppy drive.
  3. From the DOS prompt (e.g., C:\>), type sys <space> a: if your floppy drive is A. Type sys <space> b: if your floppy drive is B. For example:
    C:\WINDOWS>sys a:

The required MS DOS system files will be transferred onto the floppy disk. When the transfer is complete you will see:
    C:\WINDOWS>sys a:
    System transferred

The following files will be copied onto the floppy:
    Command.com, Drvspace.bin, IO.sys, Msdos.sys

Note: If you view the contents of the floppy from DOS, you see only the command.com file.
  4. Remove this disk from your floppy drive and place a label on this disk: Year 2000 Upgrade Disk 1 of 2. Copy the Year 2000 Upgrade files onto this disk (see next section).
Copy the Year 2000 Upgrade Files
When you copy the Year 2000 Upgrade files onto the floppy disks, be sure to maintain the original file structure. You will require two disks when you copy these files: the boot disk which you created in the previous section and labeled as Year 2000 Upgrade, Disk 1 of 2 and another floppy disk (which is not a boot disk).
  • To copy the Year 2000 files onto the boot disk:
  1. Download the zip file containing the Year 2000 Upgrade files for the first disk.
  2. Insert the boot disk (which you created in the previous section) into your computer’s floppy drive.
  3. Using the WinZip program, extract the files to the floppy disk.
  4. The WinZip program will extract all the files to their proper file structure assuming it was extracted to the root of the floppy disk. To confirm the structure, floppy disk contents should appear as shown below:
VM <DIR>
ROOT <DIR>
Y2K_IDEA <DIR>
Y2K_SYS <DIR>
AUTOEXEC.BAT
XCOPY.EXE
B_PATCH.LST
A_PATCH.LST
README.TXT
5. The Year 2000 Upgrade Disk 1 is now ready for use. To copy the Year 2000 Upgrade files for Disk 2, see the next section.
  • To copy the Year 2000 files onto the second disk:
  1. Download the zip file containing the Year 2000 Upgrade files for the second disk.
  2. Insert a floppy disk into your computer’s floppy drive.
  3. Using the WinZip program, extract the files to the floppy disk.
  4. The WinZip program will extract all the files to their proper file structure assuming it was extracted to the root of the floppy disk. To confirm the structure, floppy disk contents should appear as shown below:
Y2K_SYS <DIR>
A_2003.LST
A_2000.LST
A_202.LST
B_2003.LST
B_2000.LST
B_202.LST
Readme.txt
5. Label the disk as Year 2000 Upgrade Disk 2 of 2. It is now ready for use. To copy the remaining files, see the next step.
Copy the NVM-202 Only Files
When you copy the NVM-202 Only files to the floppy disk, be sure to maintain the original file structure.
  1. Download the zip file containing the NVM-202 Only files.
Backup.001 647KB
Control.001 1KB
5. Remove this floppy from the drive, and label it:

    NVM-202 Only
    Backup disk 001

6. This disk is ready for use.

Copy the NVM-2000 and NVM-2003 Files
When you copy the NVM-2000 and NVM-2003 files to the floppy disk, be sure to maintain the original file structure.

Backup.001 1,137KB
Control.001 1KB
5. Remove this floppy from the drive, and label it:

    NVM-2000 and NVM-3000

To copy the IDEA System files:
  1. Download the zip file containing the IDEA System files.
